Ami Patel Hopkins

Ami Patel Hopkins currently serves as the Vice President of Teaching, Learning and Innovation at the Philadelphia Education Fund. Mrs. Hopkins worked in the Philadelphia Mayor's Office of Education for over 5.5 years. Prior to joining the City of Philadelphia in July 2008 through the Destination Fellowship program, Mrs. Hopkins taught 1st grade in inner-city Miami and served as an AmeriCorps member in the Montgomery County public school system in Maryland. While attending graduate school, she worked part-time at a Baltimore high school assisting seniors with the college application process. She was able to work on education reform issues at a federal level through her policy internship at the Alliance for Excellent Education in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Hopkins also serves on the board of Research for Action, the Philadelphia Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association as the Scholarship and Student Outreach Director, and on the Executive Committee of PhillyCORE Leaders. She has a Master's degree in Public Policy with a concentration in Education Policy from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University.
