Camden School District
Originally from Trenton, New Jersey, Tre graduated from the University of Maryland. After graduating, in 2001 he taught high school English for three years; two years in Houston, TX through Teach for America and an additional year in the suburbs of Baltimore, MD. Tre has worked in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, PA working on youth development and community partnerships and resource-building. As Senior Program Coordinator for The Urban Alliance Foundation, he secured over 25 private sector internships for Washington DC public school students, ranging from the World Bank, to law firms, medical offices and community organizations. Since returning to the Philadelphia region in 2006, he has worked for another youth non-profit, Philadelphia Futures, providing mentoring, education enrichment and college literacy; as a grant writer for the Mariana Bracetti Academy in Kensington; Freire Charter School as Director of Admissions; and was a 4-year staff member with Teach For America Greater Philadelphia, where he most recently served as Executive Director, overseeing fundraising, community/school/district partnerships and organizational culture and a Director of Strategy on the Teach For America national team. Tre Johnson currently serves as the Camden City School District Board Liaison, working closely with the Superintendent's Office and the Advisory Board, as well as supporting district strategic partnership work.
