Head of School
The City School
I grew up as the son of a pastor and a teacher living and serving in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia. I went to Philly public schools (Franklin Elementary and Central High School), earned a BA in Urban Studies and an MSEd at the University of Pennsylvania, and after teaching for two years, earned my MBA at Eastern University. I served for over five years at Esperanza Health Center, a Christian health care center in North Philadelphia, first as director of HIV/AIDS services, then as the Finance Director. I began serving as Head of School at The City School in 2011, where I first became involved as a parent. I currently live in Germantown with my wife, two kids, in-laws, a nurse, two international students, a pug, and numerous AirBNB guests. I teach a course on the history and theory of community organizing at Penn, and a course on leadership and organizational dynamics at Eastern, and pack a lot of bags of diapers for Philly Diaper Service, my wife's cloth diaper service.
